National Volunteer Month

The Backwoods Norman Hiking Club & friends members on an invasive plant eradication hike May 2013

I would like to encourage everyone out there that may be thinking about becoming a Friends member to take the plunge. We are pretty low key and don’t toot our own horn too much, but as a group we play a very important role on the refuge. Many of our members are very passionate and devote a lot of unsung time and effort to enhance the experience for visitors at the refuge. We work with law enforcement, biologists, and visitor center staff in many areas to help make a difference.

If you have a passion for the refuge and want to help in our efforts, please do so. The money we raise from membership and tours helps fill a gap budget cuts create. A financial investment into the Friends group is well worth it.  If you have time to share in volunteer efforts, you will find that it is an awesome investment for future generations.

This is National Volunteer month. Please consider joining us!

There is a secure page here on the website that makes it very easy. Thanks!
